Let’s jump right into it!
In today’s post, you’ll learn:
Most effective ways to make money.
How to onboard on each revenue model.
Most effective ways to make money.
Although I’m not the richest here, not by any means, I do know how a lot of people are creating whole businesses around their social media presence.
That’s why in today’s post I’ll explain what are the best businesses to start as a content creator, as well as an easy explanation of how to start each of them.
Of course, you are not going to start making the same as someone who already has a huge audience, but no matter how big your audience is, you can apply all the following techniques.
The ways to monetize an audience are the following:
Social Media revenue programs.
Running sponsorships.
Selling products/subscriptions.
Building an email list.
Social Media revenue programs.
Increasingly more apps are opting to create partner programs, to reward their creators, and hopefully onboard more “influencers“.
It all started ages ago, with YouTube, it paid its creators fairly well, and it has remained that way.
Now, that business model is expanding to every single app. TikTok, Facebook, X (former Twitter) and even Reddit.
Other apps, more focused on the blog part of content like Medium also pay nice.
To apply to each of them, there are some restrictions to get access, but the entry barrier isn’t too hard.
You’ll get paid by how many views you get, and how engaged your audience is with your content.
Running sponsorships.
This may be the hardest one. To attract businesses that one to promote their content through you is hard, it requires a large and active audience.
But eventually, when you’ve built a big enough audience, you’ll find most of your revenue comes from these sponsorships.
Most big content creators include ads in their content, mostly on videos, because they are very profitable compared to in-app ads.
At first, a few businesses will ask you to collaborate, but if there’s a business related to your content, you should ask them if they would be interested. And if you find that too hard or very time-consuming, another great approach is to join affiliate programs, and promote other products for a fee.
Selling products/subscriptions.
But if there had to be a lucrative business, that’s a subscription-based one.
If you manage to build a strong audience that really loves what you do, and finds your content valuable, chances are if you build a private community, that only premium subscribers can access, you’ll be making a lot of money.
This has been the case for many creators that have private communities in apps like Patreon.
Also, this business model is becoming more common. Your community can subscribe to support your content in many apps, like YouTube, Twitch, or even X.
Regarding selling products, this is the main way many people on Twitter make lot of money. They share quality knowledge on their post, and at the end of post, they include a CTA to their Gumroad or similar app, where they sell their most exclusive knowledge.
Building an email list.
Every time I go on any social media, I find people promoting their email lists everywhere. And it’s no wonder why. They are an incredibly simple and rewarding business!!
Anyone can start a free newsletter with Beehiiv (the mail app I use). You, as a creator, can make money in many ways through an email list.
Firstly, when a new subscriber joins, they get the option to subscribe to your recommendations, if they subscribe to them, and are a suitable subscriber, you’ll earn some money (2-3 dollars per subscriber).
Not only that, but email lists can also bring a lot of revenue through ad sponsorships, Beehiiv also has this feature built-in.
And if that isn’t enough, you can also have premium subscribers as well as sell your products to your audience through email.
If you are a content creator, you NEED a newsletter. That’s the only way you’ll own your audience, in any other place, it can be taken down at any time. And you’ll lose every follower (I know that from experience).
